Tasman Jetty... would you like something like this for your wall??
Its been a long time.... Ahhh my concrete resolve to commit! It's a bit like when I decide that I really am going to become an exercise freak!!! Lasts a few weeks and then I promptly forget all about it. opps. But this is about my children so I may have a few more reminders. Plus I can sit inside by our roaring fire and write this.
We have had rain and wintery stuff and since we live in the sunniest spot in NZ we have had more than our fair share of sunshine as well. The puddle jumpers barely get a rest!
The girls have been riding Peewee the pony today. Lucia is very cute and brave and Armelie loves riding too. Shes trotting around the paddock now. Peewee is luckily patient and forgiving as there are invariably a few quarrels and screams about whos turn it is next.
They are beautiful our children we really love them to bits...... but some days I feel like we should hire an International mediator specialising in resolving conflict between warring tribes who have a religious belief system which abhors peaceful resolution and general playing without throwing sand. Hmmm maybe its the kiwi/english genetics fighting it out within them. I hear four is a more reasonable age so maybe we just batten down the hatches and duck flying objects (usually food) and wait a few months.
We have actually just come to the end of a three week school/kindergarten holiday. Armelie has been missing her friend Yuki and her teachers Halnalka and Maraije.
Lucia is talking more every day. She can say most words that she attempts and little sentences too, which is very gorgeous. Today she said "Dad I'm hungry".
Tui is away for another week, the little ones miss her a lot, but the time always flies by!
We are putting our new claw foot bath in tomorrow ...Yay! and we are insulating our roof so we will all stay warmer for the rest of the winter..... and thats about all for today. A new romantic vampire novel awaits me xxxx to you all

Once again we have been up since the sparrows fart! But! We have just been to an amazing Chinese circus.... Once the little girls were accustomed to the lights and loud music they loved it. The clowns didnt eat us ( this was Armelies concern after I told her they might have funny red noses and long shoes, She said mmmm ok mummy but will it eat little girls) Lucia clapped wildly and exclaimed loudly in her baby babble.
Lucia and Armelie have been practising their singing....mixed with penny whistle, harmonica, pot lids, mini grand piano and Lucias classic squeal loop sample they are taking music to a new frontier.....we couldnt say its melodic or harmonic....a little more like a cat has been put in a sack with a mouse and a whole lot of pot lids. We look forward to their future shows!

Of Bum Shuffling and other antics
All is well in the Vincent Chick house hold.... Lucia is truly toddling now, dancing singing and trying to spin around. Its hard, it seems, to stay upright when your gumboots are 2 sizes to big and you've decided to become a spinning acrobatic dancer, whilst still only on week two of mastering the art of two legged getting about. Its sometimes tempting to revert back to the( once superior) discipline of bum-shuffling. However it is a lost and forever banished form of getting about due to the vast number of trou with holes and pretty tights with no bottom at all! Although we have heard that there is an insurgence starting at Armelies Kindergarten( led by Princess Armelie herself! please see photo of her royal highness, and dont be fooled by her classic good looks! she is a revolutionary to be sure) If these shinanigans are not quelled soon the result may well be, disgruntled parents and holey trousers!
Mr Chick has banished himself to the sleepout partly to finish it and partly to get some sleep. But all round the nights have not been to bad , or maybe I cant remember what a good night is?? But we are keeping the light firmly insight, (for Armelie this seems to mean the bit before the bit before the bit before the bit where you kind of think it may be about two hours before sunrise ie: 5am ish) well maybe I'm just optimistic. Hmmm and Lenny thinks he's a realist... well now that we have lost track a bit and well ok!
Tui is playing netball and I'm super impressed with her improvement. Shes quite a little sport girl and loves every minute of it.
love love love to you all xx

Crazy days of Childhood
After a long time pondering when to start this blog I finally have! Even though its last minute and even though our children have already had their first few years of magic and even though Angela is leaving today on the plane....well its never to late ...or its NOW or never and we could go on pondering what all thats about but best to just get on with it.
So this is really to keep a record of the Vincent Chicks great adventures....(mostly between home, school, kindergarten and the beach, and often no further than our vegetable garden)...and how these little people grow and change and learn. Now hopefully their English relatives can have a peek and sometimes a wee laugh at the antics and goings- on.
At this very moment Armelie is 3 and 4 months and a bundle of fun and energy, we awoke to raucous singing and to my joy it was again my birthday. ( at present I tend to have an average of 3 celebrations a day, complete with songs, presents and a rather sandy cake with candles which I MUST enthusiastically eat. Luckily Lucia ( 16 mths) has only 6 teeth, as, the art of pretending to eat sand is only just occurring to her.
Tui is calling at 7am from her Daddys house beside herself and besotted with a grey Arab pony that she has discovered for sale. Meanwhile a chicken stares insanely and expectantly through the doors, no doubt leaving fresh deposits on our door step just to infuriate Mr L Chick.
Today is a sad day because Granny A is leaving to go back to England. The Vincent Chicks have enjoyed her so well. The girls will be missing her. Armelie informs us daily that she still wants to see Christopher Robin ( This started after Granny A took her to the Winnie the Pooh show)
So this was really meant to be a introduction......... what will happen tomorrow ...well who knows...dreams? icecreams?.....no doubt a few screams!
till then love love love to you all
The Vincent Chicks
